Real Estate Transfer Tax Reform Postponed

25 October 2019 – The amendments to the Real Estate Transfer Tax Act are not going into effect on the 1 January 2020 as proposed

The RETT amendments proposed are being discussed further in the German Parliament and may be changed. The Parliament says it is working at full speed to finish the reform of the law in the first half of 2020 as they have recently announced.  It is uncertain whether any substantial changes will be made to the present draft bill. There are rumors that the thresholds and the underlying system may again be called into question.
