Lünendonk Study 2016: Roever Broenner Susat Mazars holding its own as the ninth leading auditing firm

Growth in high-demand services tax consulting and financial advising, as well as banking and insurance.

Hamburg – Roever Broenner Susat Mazars continues its growth. With sales of 114 million in the fiscal year 2014/2015, the independent auditing and consulting firm took ninth place in the Lünendonk ranking for the leading financial auditing institutions in Germany. In an environment marked by consolidation, the growth rate of seven percent for tax consulting and roughly a third for financial advisory services ensure organic growth of about three percent in comparison with the previous year. The firm, which focuses on mid-sized businesses, was able to achieve an increase of just under twenty percent in bank auditing and consulting in comparison with the previous year. “We are growing in financial services, as well as in the central consulting fields of international tax and estate consulting, corporate valuation and services associated with auditing such as governance, risk and compliance consulting. That shows that both lending and insurance institutions as well as internationally oriented mid-sized German companies have recognized the value of our offering in combination with our international outlook, already in the year of our merger, and that we’ve laid the foundations for a successful future,” said Dr. Jost Wiechmann, partner at Roever Broenner Susat Mazars in Hamburg.

New reinforcements in Hamburg, Dresden and Cologne

Roever Broenner Susat Mazars is growing in Germany. In June, the firm announced it had received new reinforcements in Dresden: a former PwC team of seven professionals led by property lawyer and partner Rudolf von Raven. In Hamburg, a merger agreement is being prepared with the financial auditing institution Dr. Steinberg & Partner, which has one hundred employees and four partners. This will augment Mazars’ comprehensive knowledge in the areas of regulated investment and capital management companies, and further expand its auditing and consulting expertise for the maritime industry. During the period covered by the Lünendonk report, the firm also saw the positive effects of bringing in a team of three partners in Cologne with a strong background in insurance.

International 15.9 percent growth

By mid-January 2016, the international Mazars partnership announced worldwide growth of 15.9 percent for the fiscal year 2014/2015, as well as a merger in China with great strategic advantages, especially with regards to the banking sector. “Our integration in the international Mazars partnership will lend increasing support to the business in Germany, and sustainably foster positive development,” said Dr. Christoph Regierer, partner at Roever Broenner Susat Mazars in Berlin and member of the global executive board of the international Mazars Group, regarding the additional opportunities for growth offered by the firm’s unique organization as an international, integrated, independent partnership.

European expertise – a real asset for audit reform and Brexit

Mid-sized German companies value the European perspective that Mazars offers as the only partnership with German roots that is active on an international level. The firm was able to inform its clients about the effects of the annual audit reform, as well as provide an overview of Brexit-associated risks. The international Mazars combined profit and loss statements also guarantee a consistently high level of auditing and consulting services in 77 countries worldwide.

Joint Audit – The Better Alternative

In Germany, the effects of the audit reform can already be felt. Mazars’ years-long experience with joint audits, which can even lower the cost of an annual audit according to the most recent studies, makes advantageous audit options available to larger businesses: when a joint audit is completed, the newly required rotation obligation is extended to 24 years, and the call for audit bids is no longer required. A joint audit with asynchronous hiring of the second auditor is the only way to avoid loss of knowledge.

Perfectly Tailored Solutions for Mid-Sized German Companies

At Roever Broenner Susat Mazars, internationally-oriented mid-sized German companies find services perfectly tailored to their needs: the firm is a strong, dependable, future-oriented partner, especially in questions of compliance and corporate responsibility, which become increasingly important for mid-sized businesses in connection with internationalization and digitalization.
